The Body Shop Pulse Store @ Sears, Plaza Las Américas

A little more than a week ago, The Body Shop (TBS) opened one of their new PULSE Stores at Sears, Plaza Las Américas (San Juan, PR) and other three locations around Puerto Rico. The Body Shop is very well known in the beauty blogosphere and, oh boy, was I excited when I got an invite to the opening!

What is a Pulse Store?
"For the first time ever, The Body Shop, the original, natural, and ethical beauty brand with over 2,700 stores in 63 markets worldwide, will make its debut in Sears department stores in response to consumer demand. Each new store will feature The Body Shop new Pulse store concept, an innovative boutique browsing experience where the brand’s new “Beauty With Heart” movement comes to life. With Skincare, Make-Up, Body Care and Values center stage, Pulse creates a unique and memorable shopping experience – a “playground for beauty” – that engages, educates and informs. The Body Shop has always had a commitment to living its values and helping the communities. The Body Shop products stand out for being naturally and responsibly sourced, as well as for bringing Community Fair Trade products into the retail realm. The partnership with Sears allows The Body Shop to offer their innovative range of products powered by nature (including bath and body, skincare and gift sets) to the Puerto Rican consumer."

I really like the Pulse Store concept. Do not confuse this store at Sears for a counter because well, first, it is not a counter per se and second, you can just sit around the table and try the products, ask for lots of samples (YEP YEP, try before you buy!) and open up to what you really need and/or are looking for, also depending on the needs of your skin. I had a great time at the store and browsing through all the products while talking and sharing experiences with other ladies was very relaxing.

Of course, the p.r. and TBS team were excellent, very kind and helpful (thanks to Lara, Vijay from Bratskeir & Co. and Katia from TBS!). I like it when not only store attendants but even the executives can fully explain the whole company values, history and their products. I mentioned this because I have had the experience in other places where I know more about a product than the company representative or store attendants o_O (very discouraging, I know).

I am very impressed with the company beliefs and values, their efforts and actions to help and give back to the community, activate self esteem (so much needed these days!), to defend human rights, protect the planet and their policy and stance against animal testing!
The Body Shop Values (Click the image to read all about them!)

Now, TBS has a total of four Pulse Stores at Sears in San Juan, Hatillo, Mayaguez and Ponce and will offer some of their products in lower scale (as in tables with their products) at Sears in Caguas and others locations. It's worth noticing that The Pulse Stores here in the island carry the ten most popular products between the consumers and a few things more. They are not bringing the makeup and other goodies, YET. Can't wait for that to happen! These TBS Pulse Stores does not have the Rewards Card program for the moment, though they do have special offers throughout the year.

I wish the best to the TBS Pulse Stores here in the Puerto Rico and I hope they open more stores (and therefore more job opps to boricuas!).

Pssst... The press/bloggers kit was awesome. It had in it some of TBS best products and one I had expressed to them I wanted to try: the Nutriganics Drops of You, woohoo!!
The Body Shop Press Kit (Goodies!!); It included some of their best products and I was so glad to see the Nutriganics Drops of Youth in it!

ETA: Forgot to mention that, as always, I do take my time testing skincare products. If you are interested in more pictures/swatches/reviews of any of the products shown above, leave a comment or write to me at bedalyz@hotmail.com

So, have you tried their products? Any favorites?

Hope you are all having an amazing weekend.

TotalBeauty.com: How to Conceal Like a Pro

I'm always on the look out for 'flawless skin', well, at least on photos XD.

What do you think about these tips? I totally recommend the Beauty Blender. Awesome.

Psst... It's funny how the below pic presents a lady which honestly, does not has to conceal anything. LOL. In this case, I would have strongly recommended to show a photo of someone that really needs to conceal some flaws in all the mentioned areas.

The trick to having flawless skin 24/7? It's not a $150 La Mer moisturizer; it's knowing how to apply concealer. Learn how to expertly camouflage every imperfection.

ÉSIKA Cosmetics

A little more than a month ago I was contacted by a p.r. company here in the Island regarding a line of products called ÉSIKA (http://www.esika.biz). They offered to send some of their products for me to try and share with my readers. I hadn't heard of the line before, so I was glad to try something new to me.

About ÉSIKA:
"Life is Beautiful! Ésika is part of Belcorp, a company with more than 40 years of experience in the cosmetic business. Belcorp other lines are L'EBEL and CYZONE. Ésika has been going strong in countries like Perú, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, México, Venezuela, El Salvador, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Brazil. Ésika arrived to Puerto Rico a year ago.

Ésika believes in optimism, the capacity to view life from the most positive perspective, being happy, have hope and the desire to go forward in life.

ÉSIKA offers a great variety of fragrances (for both men and women) and cosmetics. Its products can be bought through independent beauty consultants in the Island; or you can access www.esika.biz to see their whole catalog."

Well, they sent me four of their products:

  +Check out their latest catalog HERE+

Labial Líquido Brillo Fantástico (0.30 fl oz, Reg. $9.50): Of course, I tried the glosses first. Right away I knew Rose Estelar wasn't for me: the color makes my lips look gray, too 'cool' for my skin tone. Cherry Shine is perfect. It reminds me of the now discontinued Sally Hansen Natural Shine Lip Gloss in Cherry that I love so much. Oh my, this little gloss do provide lots of moisture. My lips feel very hydrated for hours (I'm a sucker for that). These glosses provides a very 'wet' look. They're not too pigmented, though (I thought they were because of the pics in the catalog). I also didn't like that the shine and color don't last too much on my bare lips. Also I'm not a fan of the fruity flavor, but I know some people love them. I find myself applying Cherry Shine most days of the week because it is very hydrating and provides a very healthy look to my lips and well, that's what Ésika promises about this product in their catalog.

Resplandess Floress -- Body Splash (4oz, Reg $8.50): Ok, I do not like body splashes because most of them simply give me a rash. So I'll be honest with you: I have not used this body splash too much. When I did, I found out it is more like a gel like substance, a "liquid gel" if that makes any sense. It has some sparkle in it, which is supposed to provide some shine to your skin. It's nice. This particular body splash provides a strong floral fragrance at first, but I do find my body absorbs it very nicely. It lasts about 4 hrs on me, which is pretty good and no, I'm not left with glitter all over my body. I have not had an allergic reaction to it, but again, I haven't used it much. I find the fragrance pretty...mmm...I guess the word is average but refreshing.

Triple Acción MAX -- Hand Cream (4.9 oz, Reg $8.00): This cream is really good and for such a good price! It has rose petals, keratin, glycerin and vitamin E and leaves my hands feeling quite soft. I reach out for it quite often, since I work at a construction site and find myself washing my hands many times through out the day. I do find the smell quite strong, that's the only thing I don't like, but most of it goes away after my skin absorbs the cream. Great product at a great price.

Rating: 4/5 -- In average, I'm quite satisfied with the products for the price range they're in. Ésika provides many special offers in each campaign, so check it out.

That's all. Hope you like this review and find it useful if you decide to try these products from Ésika.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

CLARINS Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm in Crystal Pink

Lip Balms! Love them. Definitively one my must-have-applied-on-my-lips-everyday products. This past summer CLARINS released 4 lip balms as part of their Summer Collection, which really caught my eye. This lippies are named "Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balms" and come in 4 colors: Crystal Pink, Crystal Violet, Crystal Coral and Crystal Red (all of them 3.5g for USD $24.50, still available at ClarinsUSA.com)

The one that interested me was Crystal Pink.

I was very excited when I received my order. CLARINS promised: "(It) Delivers the colour of a lipstick, the transparency of a gloss and the comfort of a lip balm for smoother, fuller lips. Available in 4 bold summer shades". The shade is beautiful and for a lip balm, it provides a lot of color.  I admit, I bought it on impulse; I did not check the web about this product to see if it was good or bad, lol.

This lip balm comes in a beautiful silver case and looks super cool, very modern and elegant at the same time. It has a fruit smell I really love. Not way overboard, just nice enough.

Hola. Dos Beauty Bubbles por el precio de uno!! Jajaja. Lindo fin de semana.  // Hello. Two Beauty Bubbles for the price of one. LOL! Have a lovely weekend.

~~~~~~
About this one: Mmm, I do not agree with the tip about applying foundation on the eyelids. I ONLY do that if I had apply eye primer first. Otherwise, my E/S will be a disaster in less than an hour.
Does your hair fall flat by noon? Is your lipstick non-existent at 3 p.m.? See what experts use to keep hair and makeup flawless from morning 'til night.
8 Must-Haves That Keep You Looking Flawless All Day
We spend a lot of time getting ready in the morning. So the last thing we want is to look in the mirror a few hours later and see raccoon eyes, an oily complexion, and frizzy strands. The solution? Upgrade your beauty stash with these eight expert recommendations that help prevent almost any beauty disaster and keep you looking fresh all day long.
About this other one: Well, apparently Physicians Formula is not for me. Most of their products make me break out as hell. Ugh. I love MAC, ELF (the 4 shades bronzer in the big pan) and of course, NARS. I think I'm gonna try the CARGO bronzer. I do like the ones that are not too shimmery.
Sun-kissed skin doesn't have to end after Labor Day. See how you can extend your summer glow with one of these 16 best bronzers. Just be sure to avoid the five worst.
21 Best and Worst Bronzers
TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.9
"It makes me look weird, sparkly, and orange tinted. Worst of all, after I use this bronzer, it makes me break out everywhere!"
TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.6
"Save your money. There are cheaper and better bronzers out there."
TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.3
"This product is too silvery and not at all like the color on the stick."
