You may already know that I absolutely love the EL Double Wear Makeup (review here). Both shades 3W1-Tawny and 4W1-Shell Beige work for me during the course of the year. Right now I'm mixing both of them to get my perfect shade. In MAC terms, I'm in between NC35-37 right now. I think 4W1 could work for NC40 ladies.
These shades are very different between them, so if you are considering buying I strongly recommend getting a sample first at your nearest EL counter.
I guess that would be my biggest complaint with this foundation: the small selection of colors.
**I'm always fascinated how in the "foundation world" we all speak the same language when referring to MAC shades**

Thank you Beda! Now I have to wait for your MUFE review and swatches. I don't think you've made one yet. Estee Lauder Double is definitely a go now. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe MUFE is coming soon. I'm so behind on my reviews! Too much to try, so little time to write about them, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to try the Double Wear. Since the awesome longevity of ColorStay, I've been curious. The limited colour range does concern me though.. especially at my local counter. :\
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's the biggest fault this line has. I've been wanting to try the light version too but that one has even less shades available.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! I'm looking for a matte, long wearing foundation for work where I have to look immaculate, I think I will try this instead of MUFE mat velvet.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a timely post! I have a sample of the 4W1 which I really love but have been told by the Estee Lauder salesperson that I am a 3W1 or 2W1. I have tried the 3W1 and feel that it is a bit too light for me. I am a NC35 in MAC Studio Fix foundation powder.
ReplyDeleteI use shell beige 4w1 and in the summer darken it with a touch of 5w1 What Mufe hd foundation color would be comparable to both those. I'm having a hard time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help!!!!
I can't answer that since the numbering in MUFE foundations don't go from lightest to darkest. Check Temptalias foundation matrix.
Deletehi,
ReplyDeleteI am also looking for a shade match in ELDW. I find that Sand is too light. I havent tried Tawny. I'm an NC30 in MAC and it oxidizes on me after hours of wearing it. DO you think Tawny will work on me?
If Sand is too light, Tawny is a good choice. Go to the EL counter and ask for a sample, they provide them in cute little bottles.
DeleteLove your blogg! you have nice skin! can you tell me which color of double wear(3w or 4w) is the closest match to revlon colorstay natural tan (c/o)..a side by side swatch woulds be nice if u can...if not i appreciate the info...I live all the way in Trinidad and Tobago and i can only purchase ELDW online from the states so i have to get the color right...cuz return shipping is expensive from here..help..pretty please!
