New simple layout...but I'm still looking!

Don't get scared, you have not reached a wrong web page. I've just changed the layout because yes, I feel it's time.  Funny thing is that after looking to hundreds of layouts, I have ended up with one of those provided by blogger.  Why? This one was very simple and I like that. That's it.  I'm still adjusting to the white background, I hope it is not a big issue for you guys. I will be changing some colors for sure.  ETA:  already working on it.  You can see I'm using more or less the previous color scheme.  I like that I have more space.

I'm still looking for another one though.  I would like a simple layout but maybe one with more specific dividers. Any suggestions/recs?

Swatches: my Paint Pots collection

Ooohhh, I love MAC Paint Pots so much. I use them as base for my eyeshadows or alone when I'm in a rush. I even use them as eyeliner. I love love love how they last on my eyelids for hours without creasing.

Yep, the paint pot is a great product and one pot can last for a long time. I made this swatches the other day, I was going to do only swatches of the Constructivist PP for a friend in the Temptalia forum, but I thought "well, I might as well take pics of all the others..." lol
=)

My first poll...

For quite some time I've been wanting to add a poll on my blog, just to get to know my readers better, I guess. I just saw Blogger has a gadget about it (I think they have had it for quite some time but I just didn't pay enough attention...lol).

The poll is located on top of the "About me" section. I just posted my first question, so come on, go there and vote! It's just for fun =)

Another first: Stila products--Photos, swatches and reviews

A couple of weeks ago I received my Stila products from HauteLook.com. I ordered the Barbie Love Stila E/S Trio and one of the 24 kt lip glosses. These also arrived later than expected, but HauteLook had already wrote to me about a delay with Stila. Because of this issue, I got free shipping. I ended up spending USD $25 instead of $50. That was a price a was willing to pay to satisfy my curiosity for Stila products.

I also received a generous sample of Lancome's Génefique serum (0.5 oz). I say generous because 1 oz of this product retails for USD $78. Generous indeed. I'm still trying it. Feels good, like water. Too soon to talk about results.

First, let me talk about the 24 kt gloss (&I. I bought the Vintage Merlot shade based only on pics I've seen on the web. It is described as a deep burgundy shimmer and for that, I already knew it wasn't going to be as dark as it seem on the little plastic container. I think this specific gloss is a LE item, as I don't see it on the Stila website.

This glosses are "infused" with real 24kt gold ($22), hence its name. I'm not clear about what good things that may provide, other than it really looks pretty and very glittery. Also, the glosses have Vitamins A & E. Vintage Merlot is absolutely fabulous. Goes great with my skintone, I think. I like this gloss, not to sticky at all, but goes away pretty easily.

Fluorescent Lighting (top); Natural Lighting (bottom)

There are two things I don't like about this gloss: I like the glittery look but not the glittery feeling and the packaging. When you take off the gloss from your lips, there is glitter everywhere. I had to use my Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover to take it all out. About the packaging, well, as other Stila lip glosses, you have to twist the tube so the product comes out the little brush applicator. That's okay, but I find that a great amount of the product is wasted if you are not careful. Maybe it's me, IDK...

After just one application...

Rating: 3.5/5 --> the product per se is quite good, but I don't like the packaging and the price is a bit excessive.

Now, about the Barbie loves Stila Eye Shadow Trio & Lip Glaze (Reg. $28).

The Jewel lipgloss is absolutely beautiful and quite pigmented, for my surprise. It's wonderful when a gloss truly shows on my pigmented lips without the help of concealer, base or lip pencil. It is not sticky and lasts a bit more on my lips than the Vintage Merlot gloss. Again, I don't find the packaging to be very helpful in terms of not wasting product and I probably wouldn't buy it alone. The price would be too high.

Finally, the eyeshadows. Oh, the packaging is simple and cute. I remember how I loved those little barbie pink shoes! The eye shadows are very soft and pigmented and a bit bigger than the MAC ones. Bouquet is meant to be applied all over the eye area with Kitten on the lids and Black Cat lining the eyes and of course, you could do a super sexy smoky eyes look with it. I was very curious about Kitten and it is beautiful! This palette really is wonderful and I can wait to do a look using it.

Rating: 5/5--> This set is at a great price, get it if you can.

Later!

Look: Creamy Purples

I was going out to pick up the kids from school and was looking to add some color to my eyes.  I saw then one of my Revlon's Illuminace e/s palette:  Vavava Bloom. This cream palette is very pretty and easy to use. I usually don't wear cream e/s alone because no matter what I do, it will crease.  Illuminance e/s tend to last a bit more before starting to crease but since I was gonna be back soon, this was an easy  and quick way get some color.  BTW, I just used the purple shades on the palette.

I am also trying Maybelline's new Superstay Foundation. This is my second time using it. I like it, but I tell you, this does not stays on for 24hrs...

My first NYX products...

First of all, sorry for not posting much these last few days. The start of school year has been crazy! My youngest son started this week and he has already bitten a girl. In all fairness, I was told the young lady was driving him crazy. Of course I already told him he may have had his reasons, but he lost the fight the moment he attacked her. And no LEGOs for a few days. **Sighs** Ay ay ay, kids!

So...

I received my order from CherryCulture.com a few days ago and I really like them! This is my first time buying from Cherry Culture and buying NYX products. The order did take its time to arrive and one of the lippies was broken (It broke on its base but I can still use it) . Still deciding if I will order from them again. Prices are really good though and the offer included free shipping.

As you can see, I got:

Concealer in a Jar--Beige (USD $5): Super soft and blendable. I'm not sure I'd use it on my lids but it does a decent job concealing other areas on my face.

Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil--Milk (USD $3): I was looking for a white base for some of my e/s and this one is perfect. Extremely blendable and my eye shadows look more vibrant on top of this.

Round Lipsticks--Various (USD $2): Oh wow! Also super soft texture, really liking them and they were about $2 each!

Single Eye Shadows--Opal, Iced Mocha and Africa (USD $3.50): Really good quality and pigmentation. The colors are just beautiful. My fave (for now) has to be Iced Mocha.

All of these nice products for less than USD $30. Awesome.

Have a fun weekend!
