I've always loved the makeup style known as "arabic". I like to see Bollywood actresses all beautiful with their dramatic eyes (yeah, many pictures of them are photoshoped, but hey, the e/s combos are amazing!). I came up with this look after looking at many pictures and colors used in Indian clothing, which I truly loved.

Hola! This is beautifully done, my compliments! But, if you don't mind,I'd like to point out that Indian and Arabic are two distinctly different cultures. What I know about 'Arabic' makeup (being of Arabic descent myself) is that traditionally the accent is on the eyes, with lots of kohl. Nowadays you may see a dramatic eyebrow too, and big, fat, black eyelashes as well as lots of drama on the lids. In fact the overall look often is totally over the top, accentuating really anything you can accentuate! ;-) I do love your more wearable, stylish translation of such a look. I'm not so familiar with Bollywood, but what I recall of it, it's a bit more subtle, often with 'cat' eyes (stressing the almond shape of the eye with eyeliner). Anyhow, very enjoyable blog, keep at it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out the difference. =D
ReplyDeleteI did know that I went light on the eyeliner, later on I did another look, with pretty heavy eyeliner. I found it was really messy to take all that makeup off, definitely not something to do everyday LOL.
If anyone is looking for an Arabic makeup artist in London then theres a lady I've heard about called Zukreat, she has published work in Arabic and Asian magazine and from her website her pictures are so beautiful, just thought i'd let you guys know, her website is www.bridalmemories.co.uk :)
